In short, churches aren't liquor stores or grocery stores. . . . "[T]his virus has made a church service one of the most deadliest places to be in. The combination of singing in close quarters and decreased ventilation is nothing short of a petri dish (or cell plate) for viral growth. Observed infection rates can be astronomical."

Churches Could be the Deadliest Places in the COVID-19 Pandemic – Kevin Kavanagh, MD (Infection Control Today, April 3, 2020) PCV Editorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12519134580470262558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-876502085465766394.post-22146157361010237462020-05-26T06:09:11.706-05:002020-05-26T06:09:11.706-05:00You state: "The President said today that he ...You state: "The President said today that he will 'override the governors' and force states to allow churches to open. Churches should not be opened (or closed) by order of a president, but because it is safe to do so. To open churches before it is safe would needlessly put more lives at risk. And that would be the opposite of pro-life. Governors and religious leaders should follow the advice of public health experts and epidemiologists to help prevent the spread of infection and preserve life. Everyone wants to go back to church, including me, but not at the risk of increased infection and death, especially among the most vulnerable."

At no time did the president say that churches should be opened UNSAFELY. It's a given that face masks, a reduced number of people in the pews, added services, and social distancing would be part of the arrangement. No surprise of course that a priest on this "progressive" site would put a negative spin on Trump's actions and imply that he (unlike the author) doesn't care about "increased infection and death". If people can shop at liquor stores and grocery stores with guidelines in place, they can certainly have similar guidelines in places of worship. matters of the spirit are every bit as important as food for the body, especially in a time like this.Hanshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04394379852357655547noreply@blogger.com
