I didn't realize how influential John Courtney Murray was and how American values influenced Vatican II.<br /><br />I think it would be very interesting to consider the upsides and downsides of an American Catholic Church that would be in union with Rome. Why not? There are other cultural "rites" within the Catholic communion other than the Roman rite.
