Do you see any difference other than the title between "Twin Cities-Based Coalition for Church Reform Has High Hopes" and the NCR article? How quickly the article was put in the archives! Out of sight, out of mind?? Here's a thought. "You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, create a new model that makes the old model obsolete." Buckminster Fuller. I admire your drive Paula. But even NCR reflects the conservatism in the institution. At any rate this was my response to the article. If people want to read about the responses just type in Coalition for the baptized has high hopes ---under Search.

Submitted by Marie Rottschaefer (not verified) on Jul. 08, 2011.
“As for the future of the group, Ruddy said she thinks it’s going to be a constantly evolving idea. But the laity always will be the core.”_It is a part of cultural evolution and so indeed will be a constantly evolving idea._“The sense of the faithful comes from listening to people,” Ruddy said.
AND THE PEOPLE (SEARCHING PEOPLE) IN TURN MUST LISTEN TO THE MOST QUALIFIED PEOPLE. Academics and other experts outside of academia are the ones with the most advanced knowledge and experience. This means work and genuine study. I say this with respect, the average Catholic layperson that I have known in my 82 years of life (and I include priests and religious) has been indoctrinated to the point of being little more than clueless as to even understanding where his/her knowledge or lack of knowledge fits into the big picture of human knowledge. Catholicism is ‘where it is at’ because of two millennia give or take, of indoctrination. With necessary and sufficient education including skill building, this institution will evolve. But let us remember, a larva bears little resemblance to a butterfly. The chrysalis stage of metamorphosis i.e. rigorous study and experiential skill building with an informed, diverse, relevant curriculum (not indoctrination) is essential for the future that is before us. We, Homo sapiens have evolved into a new age with new expectations and guidelines and so we must prepare ourselves for this. Experiential skill building does not mean just 'talk-talk' -- it means meaningful behavior and action so that we really modify the planet and its inhabitants in the direction of further evolution not succumbing to the sixth mass extinction of life on earth that we are currently experiencing.Marie Schickel Rottschaeferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11911306828067970778noreply@blogger.com
